Case knife? anyone?

Postby pointysticks » 05 14, 2013 •  [Post 1]

i hated these things. very low tech. as a younger man, i loved knives that you opened with one hand with CLICK!. tactical, black, big, sharp as scalpels.

my stepdad gave me one. a humble Case. since he passed away a year ago, this thing has been with me daily. i pruned my tomato bushes, opened apples, test steaks grill-side..fixed the occasional hang nail. this thing has done it all. i looked it up. this thing is from 1976..so not super old.

i just sent it in for a cleaning. for two weeks i had a big benchmade clipped to my pocket. a great knife. i was surprised to miss the Case. this thing came back SHINEY and sharp. (i admit, it is my most difficult knife to keep sharp.) the Case guy did a fine job..it isnt shaving sharp like my benchmades..but i love it. maybe i'm getting older or slower. or i miss my stepdad. but i am so glad my knife is back!

Hey Cliff, it's a good looking knife. My grandma, who has since passed away, gave me some of my grandpa's knives from way back. They mean a lot to me, so I know how you feel. I've gone through my share of Case knives from the time I was a kid. Mostly from an uncle or two that were outdoorsmen and wanted to see me get started like them.
Glad your knife is back home!

Sounds to me like it's more than just a knife. Enjoy it and pass it on.
