watching a montana game warden show. they are busting folks for pickin up sheds, whats the big deal. just curious

Were they in Yellowstone? Or maybe trespassing on private ground.

Some of the winter ranges here in MT have a certain date that you can go in and gather sheds

so they must not wanna push the animals off their winter range then. makes a little more sense

Actually a big problem is that animals hole up on private ranches, big ones like the CB Ranch, for the winter. Lots of trespassing going on come shed hunting season in those places where elk and big mulies are visible from the road & sheds are easy pickins.

If it was Wyoming I might guess it was out of season because they have a shed hunting season to prevent stress on wintering herds.
