What I Like About This Site

Postby Swede » 03 22, 2013 •  [Post 1]

I just got back over here after visiting another forum (Sorry Elknut). Oh boy: I saw again why I don't spent much time there. The whole thread was about the qualities or lack hereof, of a certain bow hunter who had given away a bow. The entire conversation had deteriorated to where one person was calling another an "idiot" in a crude and divisive argument that enlightened no one.
It is great to have a civil discussion amoung friends, and to even disagree when it can be done without rancor. None of us are right all of the time. If one person is mistaken, enlighten, even make a joke, but don't assault them. Remember too; that a good joke is one where the person being kidded sees the humor as much as anyone else.
My personal thanks to Elknut, John Fitzgerald and all of you have made this site a great place to visit and discuss hunting related topics.

Couldn't agree more with everyone. I for the most part don't even bother to go the site I used to spend time. All you could do there was lurk for fear of being derided. Thanks to all for such a friendly atmosphere!!

You nailed it on the head Swede! I have yet to find another site with so much info and such helpful visitors. And the biggest thing is that nobody gets belittled for asking questions or for having their own opinion! Great site gentlemen!

This is by far my favorite site also. Have learned a lot from the more experienced members and hopfully given some useful info also. I find that i understand some of the finer points in the playbook by trying to explain them to others. Once you live a given senerio in the woods then you never forget. Thanks for making this a great forum guys and gals!

I've pretty much quit frequenting the "dramatic" forums (or at least those sections that contain too much B.S).

Because of the business I am in, I do spend time on various hunting forums over the course of a day. I find myself participating much more on the Elknut Forums; great info, and it is always offered with a measure of respect. Very little of the "my way or the highway" attitude here.

Glad to be a part of this Forum, thanks to John for all his great work, and thanks Paul for offering me the Sponsorship opportunity from the ground floor.
Best of Luck,

Swede, I agree with your entire statement. This is just about the only hunting forum I come to, because as someone above said, the topics stay on topic, everyone is courteous, and those knowledgeable enough to contribute do so, without making us rookies feel like fools. Thanks to all!

I really believe hunters here care about others and will honestly try to be helpful. I think it is good to question advise or conclusions about things. I believe we can all benefit from a vigorous discussion. What we don't need are personal attacks. I enjoy poking fun at folks and expect the same. What we need to ask ourselves is; will the person on the receiving end enjoy it as much or more than we do. I know I take some risks there, but know for sure, there is no one on this forum I don't appreciate.

What I Like About This Site

Postby Huntography » 04 25, 2013 •  [Post 22]

Although I'm fairly new participation wise here, I've been reading the threads since last year.

It kind of reminds me of a show I used to watch when I was younger, CHEERS.

It's that place you go where everyone knows your name. Where you have the same interest in common.

I've already spoken to a few folks on here either via phone or PM, looking forward to getting to know more of you.

Cnelk- I wish I knew more folks better on here so I can add my 2 cents on that one.

Where "Sammy" was know for having the "babe kit", I think we all known who has the "Elk Kit" on here :)
