Serious Business.. Hunting Camp Seasoning.

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 02 14, 2013 •  [Post 1]

What do you cats either take to base camp or pack in smaller quantities into the backcountry? Yeah I've got the salt and pepper thing, that's a given. For base camp cuisine, I'll take handfull of seasonings but for sure, Alpine Touch (Montana's special seasoning) and Cholupa hot sauce are in my arsenal. For backcoungtry (multi day), I'll take a salt/pepper container and some various little hot sauce packets "acquired" from Taco Bell or some similar place. What do you folks pack for your base camp kitchens, and, backcountry seasonings? RJ

i keep a plastic tube of Cajon seasoned salt in my pack. usually.

it is spicy, garlicky and IMHO on the salty side. i dont know what brand it is. my brother has a big jar in his camper. i just put it in my pack once..in case we arrowed something small and tasty..a rabbit. it has a cartoon cajun chef on the shaker bottle. pretty decent.

I'm a garlic lover and this stuff is the bomb.

This and some Montreal Steak seasoning which has alot of coarse black pepper are all I need.

Ahh, some fellow garlic seasoning lovers.. Try this out friends, you may just like it! Alpine Touch is pretty heavy garlic based with a nice blend of other seasonings mixed in. Give it a try and tell me what you think.. Go for the original first for sure. I'm not affiliated with them, have just loved the stuff for well over 30 years. RJ

During the rifle deer hunt my camp has firewood and a nice looking camp-site

I truck camp
I cut back on seasonings during September. Im a big garlic and pepper fan
( My daughter just gave me a jar of brined habineros from the World Ag Expo last week)
I turn into a gronola cruncher and lots of fruit veggies.

Hot chocolate it my guilty pleasure during the season
