Spring Projects

Postby Swede » 05 10, 2023 •  [Post 1]

There is more than just getting our hunting and camping equipment ready before we head for the hills. I have had a number of project to work on around the house and yard. I am not done, but feel like my projects are coming along well enough so that I can anticipate plenty of free time for hunting. I just need to draw a good elk tag. I still need to build a rack for my trailer and trim the hedges. I should start shooting my bow again soon. I can't wait until I have a tag for that.
I am just wondering if you jerks are getting things done at home or will I be out in the hills alone while you do those things you should have done in the Spring?

My list is long. Till the garden. Put in the dock. Get boat out of storage and clean it up. Brush hog, till, plant, and fertilize food plots. Go to boys track meets and baseball games. Mothers Day. I have shot my bow a few times, but need to do more. Turkey hunt. I don't think I even have time for work! I should retire and be like Swede. No, on second thought, there is only 1 Swede.

The list is endless.
- Plant veggies
- Thin Strawberries
- Build fence around wife's prized peonies
- build fence around wife's prized dahlia's
- Paint and prep nursery for Baby O'Connor #2
- Thatch/overseed lawn
- Recoup and maintain neighbor lady's yard
- Replace 2 sections of cedar fencing, approximately 250 linear feet
- Camping trips every other weekend with the family through June
- Boy's Soccer Monday/Wednesday, taekwondo Tuesday/Thursday
-
Probably a dozen things I'm not remembering but my wife will remind me!
I hunt therefore I am. I fish therefore I lie.

Endless list in this house. Main project this spring is move the garden from the north side of the yard to the south. Bought this place 5 years ago and one thing after another. We knew it coming into it and it is finally slowing down a bit.

Can’t wait for my fresh peas :D

I’ve had 5 days off since the end of February. That is all I have time to type right now as I am about to stagger down the hallway to bed!

Well, its spring alright. Just got home from alaska and the grass is a foot high already. Going to spend today (its 2am, so i wont be getting up very early) packing my gear for a bear hunt, and MAYBE finding time to knock down some foliage before heading to idaho, so my place doesnt look abandoned. But come friday morning, im heading east to play with bears, no matter the condition of my lawn. A guy has to have priorities.

Never mind the lawn. Good luck on that bear hunt. Keep us posted.
