Ticks

Postby Jhg » 05 06, 2023 •  [Post 1]

I may have Colorado tick fever but they won't know for sure for awhile yet. Pretty rare, 10 cases a year. Don't need any sympathy, though I appreciate the thought. Not a big fan of being made over so thanks for holding back if you have the urge to say something kind. :)

Anyway, it has been brutal. I have never experienced sustained pain like this. 3 trips to the ER, 2 nights in hospital. Morphine, fentanyl, Vicodin, Oxycodone and more. Never touched the pain. Two night zero sleep and several 2 hrs or less. I consider myself pretty stoic but have actually been brought to tears.

The symptoms abate daytime thank god.

Anyone had tick borne disease? I am all ears how you managed pain.

IV tap anyone?!

Brutal. I'm sorry to hear this. I hate ticks. I have had a few over the years, never anything like this though. I do everything I can to avoid the SOB's. Hope you heal up quick.

Bummer about the tick bite. I hope you get healed up soon. Keep us posted. It does not look like Lyme disease. That is good.

My brother and friends have had Lyme
Most animals and insects transmitted are often misdiagnosed or not diagnosed

I got Histoplasmosis It took 4 doctors before a lung specialist caught it in me! Histoplasmosis is an infection caused by breathing in spores of a fungus often found in bird and bat droppings. People usually get it from breathing in these spores when they become airborne during demolition or cleanup projects.

What were your symptoms? I had 4 day fever, then severe muscle pain which is still a problem at night.

If you are not feeling a lot better by now, you should go see your doctor. Take good care of yourself.

Finally symptoms are going away. Slept a whole night last night with minimal meds. Wow, finally. Went to the rheumatologist and they drew another gallon of blood for more tests. They said we may never know what caused this other than a virus may have triggered an underlying issue. Anyway, I hope this never happens again or to anyone.
Thanks for the check in.

I am not gonna lie Jhg, I DO feel sorry for you and hope you feel better. If we were all close, I would organize a trip to your house with flowers and cards and cookies and pickled pig knuckles, and maybe even beer. Then we would all fawn all over you and make you feel so very special!

Ha Ha.

That "maybe even beer" part sounded pretty good.
