Me and and my old jeep

Postby Jhg » 02 11, 2023 •  [Post 1]

I learned to drive in a willys just like this. My Dad and I had many an adventure in the Maine woods bouncing down muddy old logging twitch trails long abandoned.

I liked my 67 Jeep pretty well except for the sloppy steering. I think I have steered boats with as much precision.

Pretty common story   Lets hear your old story even if its a repeat

When I first met my wife she took her 48 for a full day ride. we got a flat. Well her dad always kept a spare in the back seat and one on the spare tire rack. A few hours later the 2nd spare blew. The tires were all badly checked, I convinced her to turn around and head back home ,,, Yep on the way back tire #3 blew.
Eventfully found out "new tires always were used tires

Oh last august bear hunting i was riding my quad down a trail i barely consider atv worthy, and heres 3 dudes in a 47 willys jeep with a flat. Sidewall blown out. All they had was a little socket wrench, couldnt get the lugs off, so i went back to my truck and grabbed a breaker bar etc. Everybody figured the lugs on that old beast were seized up. I was jumpin up and down on my breaker bar, barely moving them. I let the owner of the rig take over, and i made a joke about the lugs probably being reverse threads. After a few minutes of the owner fighting the lugs, one of his buddies takes the socket wrench and tries turning a lugnut clockwise. Came right off.
