Congratulations GW! That’s a heck of a picture. I didn’t just look at it, I felt it. What a mess!

Microbursts are totally awesome in the mountains. Hope to never get caught out in one.

Someone might correct me, but I do not think TWG's pictures and description depict a microburst. Microbursts come out of Cumulous clouds in a thunderstorm and that are short term events. TWG speaks of a "crazy night". It appears a cold front moved through and caused the craziness.

I would agree with Swede as much as I hate to. This appears to be a frontal situation or maybe what they in the Midwest call a derecho. An extreme set of storms in a cold front. My sister lived in eastern Iowa and was quite familiar with them.

If that storm was not a microburst, should I have received a lot more votes and won? :D Just wondering.

I don't if it was a "microburst", seemed like more of a macroburst to me. It went from 82° to 18° in 36 hours.
