Food for thought

Postby Jhg » 02 15, 2022 •  [Post 1]

One of the things that has been consistent for me in regards to hunting as a rewarding activity is the meals that are a direct result of success.

How many times have you felt that inner glow as the roast comes out of the oven or the stew slow cooking in a pot fills the kitchen with hearty aroma? How many times have you thought to yourself how great it is to have put that wonderful meal on the table through hard work, smarts, and maybe, sometimes just plain good luck?

I will never tire of the first bite into a tender roast or savory piece of jerky from an animal I harvested for myself and for my family.

It is the primary driving factor for me. I haven't bought red meat in close to a decade. We buy chicken and bacon, that's it for meat. And if I could raise my own pigs and chickens, or find a wild alternative that I could get the amount necessary to fit our needs you better believe I would. I just don't have that kind of setup.
I hunt therefore I am. I fish therefore I lie.
