Top of the 'Bucket List'?

Postby cnelk » 11 28, 2012 •  [Post 1]

We all have a bucket list when it comes to hunting.

Of all the hunting I have done, I have never shot an antelope or turkey.
I have hunted turkey, but not antelope.
My son has killed 3 turkey!

I'm saving Pref Points for antelope now so that's on top of my list

For some reason a Grizz is at the top of my list, would take this over a dall or bighorn.

I would say the top on my bucket list is a nice 6 pt. bull and a nice heavy horned antalope. The turkeys around here are a big nuisance. You walk outside and they will come running if they are around. Someone must be feeding them but they can sure make a mess.

For me I think it is a good Mule deer buck and a good Blacktail. I am not too excited about huge. I would rather spend some good time with my son and see him kill another big bull elk or a dandy buck.

I have harvested Muley's, Elk, antelope, bison, and moose and so I need to move on to something else. For me it would have to be a White Tail as there are none in Utah and I have only seen them twice in my life and all within the last few months near Gillette and Casper. Now that I am transplanting myself to Wyoming I will have to get a plan in place in the years to come.

A big, mature Blacktail. When I used to shoot for Oregon Bow and Horizon Bow Company, I had a few chances to hunt blacktails, but always shot small bucks...
And right beside blacktail is a mountain goat, here in Colo...a few more years and I should draw a tag...

Big bull elk

Alaska Caribou

Both with the bow and everything DIY. Shot a few small bulls already and have screwed up on numerous big bulls.

Alaska plans are made I just have to hope I have enough money and the time off when it's time to go! A recent friend I made lives in Alaska in the summer and has DIY caribou hunting figured out more than most!

Mountain Goat in Alaska with my good friend Ryan. He lives up there still and has his finger on a good spot that he has opportunities at Goats and Dall Sheep every year. I'm saving.

most of my buckets have been filled by living a charmed life I guess.
I took a shiras some years back with a rifle, but a big ol Alaskan moose wth a bow sure would be fun!

I enjoy seeing what guys want to hunt and it appears to have a little to do with where they usually hunt.
like the turkey thing. what is not easy in one place is a chip shot at other places.

One thing I've always wanted to do is get myself one of those ultralite paraplanes. I'd like the kind that looks like a lawn chair suspended from a parachute with a motor on it. Just looks lke a blast and you you never know it might be good for finding some new elk territory.
