Saturday Night Cabin Fever III

Postby cnelk » 01 18, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Here we are again folks.
Is everyone READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL TOMORROW?

Busy day here, started out putting a new starter in my sons truck, then we changed a flat tire on the car, then changed oil on the car.

Enough work!
So we hooked up to the snowmobile trailer and headed up into the mountains and did some trail riding - put about 30 miles on the machines

Go Broncos!

Jealous.

I have cabin fever big time.

I just started my 6 week post op recovery. I can't shoot my bow for 6 weeks. Can't lean over for 3 weeks. Still dizzy so I can't even go out for a walk. Can't hear people since my good ear was operated on and has packing in there for 6 weeks.

It was better to do this now in the dead of winter than later. I didn't think it would drive me crazy. I knew the restrictions because I did left ear surgery in October. The side effects are lasting longer and more severe.

We have great weather now. I just want a simple walk. I am so restless. How can anyone stand to stay inside all winter? I am an outdoor person. I cannot hibernate.

At least I have football tomorrow and 3 months of elknut forum reading to do.

Heck ya! Some great games a brewing tomorrow. Mrs Phantom went on about a 100 mile cruise with me in my old Chevy. Stopped at a classic GM parts place in Grand Mound and grabbed a few goodies. I ended up trailing the wife thru some antique stores in Centralia before grabbing a burg and beer. Watching Barrett Jackson car auction to burn up the rest of the evening. Go Hawks!

i really dont dig football, i see myself getting on my quad in the morning and heading for the hills while everybody i know is watching the hawks. only problem is ive been trudging through deepish snow looking for moose paddles for the last three days, and my legs are sore as hell. probably just go set up a couple cameras, maybe try to call in a cat or a dog.

I am ready for Church and have the lesson I am teaching done. I heard there are some important football games on TV tomorrow. I am not sure who they are important to though, or which team to get excited about.
Mtnmutt: I hope your recovery goes very well. I am not sure what it is supposed to accomplish. Will it give you better hearing in the end?

Football was during hunting season, my dad wasn't into it so Ive never had much interest either.

Church obligations keep me busy on Sunday.. We also have a scout meeting,.. so that will take a while too,.. I should find some times to look for geese on the way to church 8-)

Yes, hopefully. I will know in another 3 months as it heals. I may know more in 6 weeks when the packing comes out.

30 years ago, left ear (profound/deaf loss 90+dB) was further damaged from a post op infection after 1st surgery. It is normally very successful. It was 100% successful for both my my Aunt's ears. I may still do a 7th left ear surgery in October after elk season.

This was my 1st ever right ear surgery. The 6 ops on my left ear were to get it to the level of my right, so I could operate on the right. Those left ear surgeries were unsuccessful.

I waited 30 years to operate on my right ear. They don't want to operate on your better ear, but now the risk is 1% instead of 3-5% 30 years ago. My patience was over, so I went for it. The surgery can potentially get my right ear (severe loss 70+dB) close to normal hearing. I have some old age right inner ear loss and would still need a hearing aid.

I may be able to hear bugles come September. Those elk may not be able to sneak up on me in September if I gain 40-50 dB of hearing in my right ear. I will need to learn how to do a location bugle if I can hear them soon.
