Postby WapitiTalk1 » 08 02, 2026 •  [Post 1]

The theme for August 2026 is "One of my best elk hunting memories". Let's see some pics of our favorite elk hunting memory that you captured in a snapshot.
1. Yes, the stink MODs may enter a photo also).
2. Photo must relate to the monthly theme (or risk being disqualified).
3. Do not use photo editing software to enhance your photo. Just post the photo as it was taken with your camera, smart phone, trail cam, etc. You may have to resize some photos so they are accepted by the forum software; remember, photos can only be 800X600 pixels "MAX" for our forum.
4. You may use older photos you have on hand, but, do not submit a photo that has won a previous WT photo contest.
5. Any WT member may enter a photo they have taken or appear in.
6. Judging – WT members will vote on monthly photo submissions.
7. Contest period will normally end the last day of the month.
8. Winner must contact WapitiTalk1 via PM and provide mailing address for prize (your prize may be sent directly from a WT sponsor or from RJ).
9. Prizes will vary from month to month.
10. All monthly winners will be automatically entered into the "photo of the year" contest.

The prize for the August contest is to be determined.

This is easy
This hike my granddaughter and I set up in a thicket behind Andrew and Julie. My granddaughter and I did the calling, she would stomp around break branches. When the first bull bugled back,, My granddaughters eyes got so big.
We had two bugling bulls that hung up in front of use 70-90 yards out
We packed up and headed back to the truck at the end of LST.

Back at the truck Julies was waiting,, moments later Andrew came running..
Rylee and I didnt know but a bull moose was between us and Julie and Andrew keeping the bugling bulls out of range . Evidently the moose was a whole lot upset

The hard work is done getting him out of the bottom up to the old road we used to access this basin. Next day we'll get the meat 11 miles out to the truck. With the help of a cart of course.

Probably my last elk with my boyhood and older hunting companion. We had some great times together. Even as this picture was taken, I don't think we thought that it would end so soon.
