NEW to me RIFLE!!!

Postby LckyTylr » 11 05, 2012 •  [Post 1]

YAY, my Wife gave me the go-ahead to purchase a new (to me) rifle. I have been looking for a few months now for the right caliber and setup. I had narrowed it down to either a 300 RUM or a 7mm RUM.

Aspects that I refused to compromise:
Had to be SS
Had to have 26" Barrel
Had to be Synthetic
Had to be Rem 700 action

I found everything that I wanted in a 7mm RUM . . . . used . . . . . . . for $400!!!!!!!!! :D 8-)

I'm VERY happy! I'll be painting it to match my own likes, but I'm happy. :-)

Thanks Dotman, I haven't purchased a new (or used) firearm or bow since I was 16, so it's been 10 years, so I'm pretty stoked about it.

Now . . . . . . . to outfit it with more fun stuff. :P

Looks like a shooter. Let us know how it pans out for ya after you scope it up and fire a group out of it.

Great looking boom stick. That'll definitely do the job nicely.

It is a nice gun with a lot of knock down power, but it is more than I want to shoot.

Does that mean you aren't buying a new bow this spring? I was looking forward to selling you a new BowMadness, or whatever you like...

It is going to be my "everything-bigger-than-coyote" gun. :-)

Still getting a new bow . . . . . I really hope so . . . . . . but I really doubt it. That Bowmadness would be sweet.

I must admit, I'm so frustrated after this last archery season that I think I need to put down my bow for one season and just KILL a damn bull. I have been within rifle range of bulls during rifle season for that unit each of the last 3 years, but my "A" tag is always for Archery only in a different unit. I just can't take another year of NOT killing a bull, so next year I'm buying the "B" tag and I'm gonna get a bull on the ground.

That (^) is all going out the window if I get a new Bowmadness this summer. :-)

Thanks all, it's going to be a month or so before I can get a scope on her, but I'll get some groups on paper posted as soon as I can.
