String Wax

I am a new bow hunter. How often should I wax my bow string? I have had my bow for about two months and have shot hundreds of arrows but not waxed the string is this bad? Thank you for you help.

Whenever you think about it or see any fraying at all. Dry weather, dust, going thru brush, all takes a toll on your string so I usually give mine a good waxing before season and once during. Welcome to the forum mister

I've read many various opinions about it ranging from every shot cycle (2-12 shots) to once a year. I typically treat my strings before every practice. My opinion is that wax is cheap and convenient, replacing the string isn't.

Just keep an eye on your string and wax it whenever you start to see some light fraying/hairs coming off of the string, your string will be adequately protected and I do not see a reason to wax the string much more than this...dry weather/brush does have an effect though.
