Are there good collapsible hiking poles that can double as shooting sticks?

I use a Primos Tall Mono Pod shooting stick. There is one caution, don't extend the bottom portion of the stick until you need it for a rest, it can collapse when you put a lot of pressure on it while walking. This isn't really a problem though because the stick extends very easily and even if you only extent the top half of the stick it can be used from a sitting or kneeling position. I use mine to support my optics, range finder, rifle, or anything else that needs to be steadied. I use mine as a walking stick in very rough, forested areas in Montana and it's been a real help when I have to climb over deadfalls and rocks.

You can carry a piece of Velcro to wrap around them and form an X. You can also put the nylon carry straps over them and form a quick x as well.

I bought a Bog Pod for shooting/hiking, but I wouldn't use it for serious hiking, as it weighs too much.

Another option is to get an Elk Mountain Gear slip system. Pretty dang cool piece of equipment really. It's a blind, a decoy, a shooting stick, a camera mount, and oh yeah, a dang strong hiking staff! Just a thought. RJ
