Trail Cam "Angle"

After last year's elk using my cams for close up selfies of their eyeballs, ears, antlers, shoulders, and rear ends.... I'll be placing my cams much higher in the trees this year (following WAWhitey's recommendations). That said, besides just cramming a few sticks behind the top of them, what do you folks use to ensure the cams are setup and pointing down at the correct angle? I'm thinking either some pre-made wood wedges, or, perhaps some pre-made foam wedges I'll pack in with each cam.... thoughts?

Slate river ez aim mount. Theyre awesome. $25 at trailcampro.com. bout the same price if you can find em on ebay or amazon. If your cam is threaded for them its the best way to go.

The downside to how i set my cams is that bears will occasionally climb the tree and mess with the cams, leaving them upside down pointed at the sky or backward at the trunk of the tree. Heres a pic of a bear sabotaged soak. Lost 2 months on this one.

Ive found that when bears screw with them its generally within a few days of when i last checked them, so i think theyre smelling where i had climbed the tree. Also, they usually do this in the spring.

Makes it stick way out from the tree. Bad in 2 ways. 1 it makes it easier for people to see. 2 it makes it hard to check and swap cards without bumping it, changing the field of view. You would need two free hands to try to open and close it without moving it, so youd need to strap yourself to the tree
Also it would have the cam sticking right in your face.

Good copy. I found the Slate River mounts on Amazon for 20 bones. After I confirm how many of my trail cams have the female mount on the bottom of them (and size), I'll get a handful ordered. Thanks!

They come shiny black. I spray paint them flat brown.

Not sure what cams you have, but all the brownings annd bushnells are threaded for the mounts

Yep, I called Mrs. Phantom at the house and had her check which ones had the threads before I ordered the appropriate quantity of SR Mounts. I'll get the OD spray paint out and get em sprayed before they're put in use. Thanks again for the tips Dean.
