Stashing Gear

Postby Kessler10 » 06 13, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Anyone stash a few pieces of gear/heavier items when they summer scout, so you do not have to carry it back come Sept? I am talking about things like folding shovel, extra tarp, etc. things that take up to much space. stashing them off main trail near where you plan to camp.

Yep

13 years ago when I left Utah a neigbor bought my stash that is in a 5 gallon bucket. Well he gave me $5.00 to not go and pack it out I let all the outdoors man know where it was located. 4000 feet up( or 1200 down from the top) and 3 miles away. . The tree it was under was easy to see from our homes.

Emergency stuff. Military sleeping bag, old wool socs, candles , lighter, marchers, emergency candles juice in foil packs. plastic tarp. I thin there were some candy bars too

Last year I started creating a shelter and stacked dry firewood. I had full intentions of building a spike camp there
where I deer hunted years ago I have a pile of firewood just in case of a big snow.
Neighbors put a pile of gear at there old spike campsite before season. Just incase of a late evening kill,or emergency. I heard also that they set up a tent and sleeping gear , which some of the guys met during mid day
