WY, SVen or Silky Saw

trying to decide between the 3 to take with me for back country firewood cutting. Most the firewood I will cut will be 4- in diameter. Would not hurt to have it double as a bone saw if in the unlikely event I get my bull down.

I like having the frame like the WY saw and the Sven saw. So might buy one of those then also buy the silky so i have 2 options. Ill carry one my partner carries the other.

I've used Sven and WY. WY is easier to carry, slightly harder to assemble, includes wood and bone blades. WY gets my vote.

WY saw with bone blade and brush blades might be your best bet. But the Silky saw looks like a monster of a saw, just don't know how good it would work for bones. If it was just for cutting wood, Silky would be my in pack.

Luke, I've looked at that Silky saw but have heard that the blade is not quite long enough (due to it's significant triangle design) to saw off a skull cap? The WY saw although certainly a bit on the heavy side is a beast. Carry the WY saw in, keep it at camp for firewood duties, and you have it there if you need to come back from a hunt to lop the top off of Barney Bull

I've used the WY alot...it is alil heavy but so is packing out a head of a mature bull....and those lil saws arnt worth the trouble for the weight savings in my opinion

A lighter option would be to cut the wood in the summer time with a big saw and pack uncle mikes saw when you pack in for the season....good enough for back up wood work if needed and skull caps....

I have not used either of the other mentioned saws', although I carry the Wyoming saw and have used both the wood blade for cutting wood and the meat blade for quartering out elk and the saw has always been heavy duty enough to preform very well for me in all aspects' and I have no complaints' about it at all.
