Curious, what bow are you shooting this year?

Postby pointysticks » 08 30, 2012 •  [Post 1]

i often wonder what everyone's go-to tool is for throwing those arrows.

whatcha got?

mine? i shoot a (old bow now) 2010 Mathews Z7. i hated this thing at first..now we have an "agreement". we are good together now. i named it "drunken sparrow" because that is how the early arrows flew out of it. :)

Z7 here as well. I will also be using my strother sx1 that I won not long ago. Both shoot great but the strother is faster with the same arrow.

2012 athens afflixtion @ 80lbs! If you have a chance to shoot an athens, don't do it unless you are ready to buy! Sweet bow!

2001 Bow Logic is what I use now. Last year was a Parker Hunter mag. 2 years before that was a Martain Lyx. Before that was a PSE Mag. before that was a Golden Eagle. And my first was a Fred Bear recurve 55#.

2007 Bowtech Guardian. A few new accessories this year (Pro V rest, MBG Ascent sight, Octane deadlock Quiver), but the same ol' dependable bow. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hoyt Carbon Matrix Plus with FMJ's dialed in with QAD Exodus Broadheads.

Shoots great! Quiet, & above all not cold to the touch.

I have never owned a bow this sweet!

There is hardly a bow out there that isn't good with todays technology & accessories.

Beware of the man with one bow cuz he probably knows how to shoot it!

Looks like you great taste in bows Paul. I also shoot a Hoyt Alpha Max 32. 27" @70lbs. Flings a 434grain arrow @262fps. Has a 12.66% FOC. Penetrates elk quite nicely. :)

My go to rig is a Mathews DXT that I really love & as a back-up I have an Outback that is also a great little bow. I picked up a EZ7 early this year, shot it for a week & decided I liked my "old" bows better. If it aint broke.....

Mathews z7 extreme. Always been a Hoyt man but shot the Mathews last year and loved it. So I went over to the dark side.

Hoyt Maxxis 31 with a 5 pin Spot Hogg, Winners Choice string, QAD HDX drop away, and a cheap Limbsaver stabilizer. Bought it used and upgraded a couple things. Couldnt be happier with it.

Was a diehard Mathews guy til this year. Switched to a Prime shift LR this year. Great shooting bow. Awesome out to 70 yds. SHot my bull at 20yds this year with it. Be hard for me to go back to Mathews.

I've been Hoyt or nothing for 10 years. Shot the Mathews Creed a few days ago side by side with the 2013 element. The Creed impressed me! Noticeably less hand shock after the shot was the most noticeable difference. I'm not buying a bow until I get to shoot new Prime, Bear, PSE and Bowtechs but so far, I'm leaning towards a Mathews Creed. That's not a fan boy comment. I've never owned a Mathews and never before been impressed with how they shot. Funny how individual preferences can be though. The shop owner told me that the day before, a die hard Mathews guy made the switch to a Carbon Element after comparing it to the Creed. :)

Definately try a Prime. I like the looks of the Creed though, may shoot it just for fun.

Being a die hard Hoyt shooter, I have been shooting the Element along with the Carbon Matrix. I just recently shot the Mathews Monster Chill and I was highly impressed. To me, the draw cycle was very smooth and it also had a very good feel at the shot as well.
