Broadhead Sharpener?

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 08 25, 2012 •  [Post 1]

I use a Smith's BH sharpener (pictured here). It works by sliding the two cross-cut, angled blades on the BH blades from front to back. It seems to work pretty well on the modern fixed blade BHs. It also has three, four, and five blade attaching/detaching slots. For around 10 bones, it's a decent deal. What do you folks use to sharpen your BH blades when out and about? RJ

For quick touchups I use a smith fine diamond flat stone. But if i need to put a good edge on something I use a lansky sharpening system. I thought about trying a kme but couldnt justify the price when the lansky does such a great job.

I use a butcher steel and flat piece of ceramic, then polish the blades on my leather belt. Kind of crude but, really works.

I've heard the Rada cutlery quick edge sharpener works extremely well found them for like $10. It doesn't actually remove material it just reforms the edge. I'm thinking about trying one. Guess we'll see.
