Suggestion on which arrows?

After this hunting season i am deciding that i want to change arrows from my injexions for more choice of broadheads, and right now i am the arrows i am thinking about are the Easton axis,Gold tip hunter, and the Gold tip kinetic kaos. I am wanting to stay around 470-500 grains for a total arrow weight with a 125 grain head. I'll be shooting a 30'' draw at 70 pounds out of a hoyt spyder turbo or a new elite!

I would shy away from the Kinetic Chaos or plan on using Easton HIT inserts in them. The outserts and collars they come with are no good. I'm done with any type of outsert.

I'm curious as to what problems you've had with the outserts? My dad uses the xt kinetics and hasn't had any problems with them unless they hit rocks or trees really solid.

They bend. Bad design. It creates a huge stress riser where the outsert meets the shaft. They had so much trouble with them they introduced the ballistic collar this year to put over them to try to keep them from bending. The collar is just basically a footing. The tops of the collars are very thin aluminum. If you shoot them into bag targets they are very hard to pull as they catch on the way out. The tops of them also break and start peeling down with repeated shooting. They will pack with material from the target and you won't be able to get them off. I didn't glue mine on but have two I can't get to slip off. Even tried using pliers, they aren't coming off.

That is good to know thanks for the help! do you have any experience with the xt or pro hunter shafts for hunting, and how they preform at longer distances 60-100 yards? and do you think axis size shafts penetrate game better than more full size shafts like the xt hunters?

When I still shot carbon arrows I shot both the XT and Pro Hunters. Both good arrows and I didn't have any trouble with either. I switched to FMJ when they came out and except for a stint with the FMJ injexions I still shoot them. If I went back to carbon would likely shoot the Pro Hunters.

I don't think the arrow diameter has a lot to do with penetration. With raw math and physics, yes, a skinnier shaft will penetrate further. In real life situations I don't think there is a significant difference. You are using a BH that has a cutting diameter over 1 inch. That is the wound channel your arrow follows. When the channel is that much larger than the shaft then the diameter of the shaft doens't have a lot to do with it.

If penetration is a concern my advice would be to go with a heavier arrow. Total arrow weight will have a lot more to do with penetration than the shaft diameter.

Thank you for the help! Right now I shoot the Easton injexions at 465grains at 298 fps. And penetration has been good just don't want to shoot deep 6 anymore. My arrow weight would be about 460 grains with the pro-hunters unless I use a 125 grain broadhead, but then I feel I would be under spined with a 300 spine arrow

And if end up getting a elite i may get the 70-80 pound bow which then I don't know if the pro-hunters would be stiff enough

300 should be plenty stiff, even with a 125gr head.
