I'm new to calling and purchased this bugle. Anyone have any experience or thoughts with it?

Paul, I bought the starter pack and it came without a mouthpiece. Will the xtr mouthpiece work we'll for me with it?

So I understand correctly you picked up the 2015 Chuckler Starter Kit, right? If so that one does not come with an External mouthpiece, it is the new grunt tube bugle to be used with mouth reeds/diaphragms as the two that came in the kit. I take it you're not a mouth reed user? If not it will take lots of practice to learn them, you have time if you're serious about learning. Let me know if I'm on the right track here! (grin)

The XTR mouthpiece for the other bugle we carry was not designed to install the XTR one into the new chuckler. It can be modified to work with it with a little trimming!

Okay yes, so I bought the wrong bugle then eh? I use diagrams a lot, but just for turkeys. New to the elk ones. What do you suggest I do?

Ahh, a turkey caller, then what's the problem! (grin) You should be able to take the reeds sent, start with the Yellow one & follow the instruction on the Mastering The Mouth Reed DVD that came in that package. As a turkey caller you will conquer elk sounds in no time! Have you tried this yet?

p.s. you do not need the XTR!

Yes, you need to watch the DVD's that came with your package, you will see us using the reeds to make all sounds from both bulls & cows. Too, the above video will show the use of reeds with the bugle & XTR mouthpiece.

If I modify the bugle to fit the XTR mouthpiece, will it work with the diaphragms still?

Yes. Your modification should be done in a way that the Conqueror mouthpiece will be snug fitting but still removable so you can remove & use a mouth reed if you so desire!
