Magnus Black Hornet Broadhead

I had no idea Magnus just came out with a new head....thanks indian summer.... just watched the promo launch and I'm all in.Been a huge Magnus fan for years,and would like to hear any feedback.Always liked how magnus sharpens the back of the blades, even the bleeders,COC,heavy stainless steel blades,fly great, and of coarse,lifetime warrantee.

I love the fact that they are sharpened on the backside too. If you don't get a pass through at least the arrow will do more damage on the way back out. Plus finding your arrow can be valuable if you have to track an elk. Mike is a good guy and that warranty is a no questions asked policy. You could shoot one of his heads into a concrete block and mail what's left of it to him and he'll send you a new one. The big plus: They fly like darts. I'm shooting the 100 grain regular head... not the serrated. If you scroll down in the elk hunting form you can find a review on those heads posted by Seminole. He shoots the serrated version.

Looks like they just come in 4 blade,should work great with the compound,and can't wait to test them out. Still going to stick with the magnus vented two blade when useing my elburg, however,as the two blade really slices and dices inside the chest cavity,something that just doesn't happen with the four blade.I seem to get, on average 16" penetration on deer or elk with the COC two blade,perfect place for that two blade to be!

I don't know if I'd categorize that as a 4 blade head. More of a 2 blade vented with a small bleeder blade.

I have thought the same thing with the stingers,that the bleeders aren't big enough to keep the main blade from slicing back and forth,but the main blade just can't move that way even with the small bleeders.
With traditional equipment, my experience has been that different factors come into play,both pros and cons compared to the wheel bow,in reguard to broadheads.With the wheel bow,more often than not the arrow will pass completely thru the animal,COC multiple bladed head seems to be the best chioce with a larger wound channel,and not as critical to worry about penetration compared to the stick bow.
With the stick,as mentioned above,odds are that the arrow/broadhead will stop inside the chest cavity,especially on larger animals like elk. But one of the biggest advantages I have found with traditional, is that the bow is so quiet, that lots of times the "twang"does not register as an alarm sound,compared to the wheel bow,if they here it at all. Now,combine that with a two bladed head,which has less resistance passing thru the hide than any four blade, however small the bleeders may be,and if you don't hit bone, there is a very,very good chance that the animal may start or jump,but not run away,as the sound they heard is not alarming,and they "feel" very little.This,in my opinion,along with the way a two blade will slice and dice,negates the fact that as a general rule,the animal will bleed less outside of the body with the two blade vs. the multiple bladed head. Even with the super sensitive whitetail, there does'nt seem to be "enough" alarm sound or pain to send them into full flight,with the exeption of a heart stick.

I ordered two 3-Packs of the 125gr black hornets a couple months ago and they arrived in the mail last week. They fly great. As close to my field points as you can get. I like the way they fly....better than the Stingers in my opinion. The Blade just looks and feels very solid. Thickness you can see is more than the stingers. Holding them side by side you can see with your naked eye that the black hornet will pack more of a punch than the stingers, in my opinion.

This might be a coincidence but the first shot I took with this broadhead went through my Glendale Buck 3D target. The whole arrow didn't go through but the broahead I could see sticking out on the other end. First time this has happened. But it could be due to the wear and tear on my target. But Id like to think its from this new bad ass broadhead.....Yeah, lets go with that. These are awesome.

Look great, problem is I have to get rid of all my stingers to justify anything new. And with his warranty I never run out!

I hear you,ishy,I think to justify switching to hornets,I'm going to give my wife all my stingers.....
