wool clothing question

So I've been coming across a lot of wool clothing that seems good until I notice it has a cotton liner. Is this not counter productive? Seems to me it kind of defeats the purpose as it would keep moisture next to the skin and not keep you as warm and dry and increase odor. Am I looking at this wrong?

Like what types or brands? I have wool in about everything here & don't see a cotton liner in any of them?

Don't know which brand but there are wool bibs and coats at a local sporting goods store that I thought would be great November deer hunting gear until I saw the cotton liner. Then I looked online at the cabelas wooltimate camo bibs and they also have a cotton liner. I've seen it on a few other things too. Just trying to find some good heavyish 100% wool bibs for cold weather hunting. Those generic black or green ones with the unhemmed legs seem too thin. Doesn't seem like it should be hard to find but they are.

I actually don't think it's a big deal because I very commonly will put on cotton longjohn under my wool pants for extra warmth in winter/cold wet conditions. I've been in some down-right all day downpours of rain & wet snow & hardly even get a dampness past the out layer of wool. I only do this on the bottoms, on the tops I wear a merino wool type base layer with no cotton then layer over that.

I did order some merino wool base layers. Top and bottom. So maybe I shouldn't worry too much about a little cotton liner then.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it too much, I also have merino wool bottoms but find that the cotton being a bit heavier stay warmer best. You can't go wrong with good wool products!

merino wool is soft, comfortable, and not itchy next to the skin the heavier weight outer wool garments are itchy and abrasive next to skin. i believe that may be the reason for the thin cotton liner
