So, Sitka, eberlestock, and north face give a pretty nice military discount.

With that: Sitka bivy 4500 cu, blue widow (highly modifiable), or any of the big north face climbing packs.

Buying this with an eye for the long term.

Don't have horses so I will be hoofing it. Staying out for a max of 15 days (or until we tag out) with a partner.

I have the Blue Widow, best pack for hunting I have ever owned!

I have had the Eberlestock Blue Widow for the past two years (it's loaded with around 50 lbs of gear in my avatar) and it's served me well. Tough, great warranty, and configuration/functionality is great. What I have heard folks say is that the load lifters are not very functional for taller guys.

You will have a tough time getting 15 days worth of gear and food in any of the mentioned packs.

I used a Blue Widow for a few years. Good pack, not the most comfortable when you get a lot of weight in it but surely works. I found it pretty functional and comfortable up to about 60#. Much over that and it starts to hang on the shoulders pretty bad.

I'm biased but a paradox will do what you need. It can carry a load and approaches 140 liters in certain configurations

Have to agree with jmez. Unless you have already bought the smallest and lightest gear on the planet It's gonna be tough getting all the stuff you're gonna need for 15 days in any of those listed packs. I'm no experienced back country hunter but as I've been planning my first BC elk trip I've found I need a lot of room for gear and food/water. I purchased the Horn Hunter Full Curl system and absolutely love it. But... I've added a Kifaru Longhunter bag and pockets for my 10+ day trip. My gear is "middle of the road" on price vs weight so I know there's room for improvement but I wouldn't want to not have enough room and need to leave things out just to fit a specific pack. Just my inexperienced opinions of course. Bill

Speaking of Horn Hunter. They offer an extremely generous discount for military! I love my Full Curl System and would highly recommend it.

I have the Sitka Bivy 4500 and it is exceptionally quiet and great for hunting out of if you are under 40 pounds. While It can handle more it gets very uncomfortable on my shoulders when you get to 65+ pounds for extended periods of time. So if you are planning on up to 15 days I would not recommend that pack at all.

I was asking about the military discount mentioned above. Is that through pack fitter? I assumed it would be through horn hunter directly but there doesn't seem to be much info on them as a manufacturer. Are they a subsidiary for another outdoor gear company?

Done it a few times but not while hunting. Not too bad.

If I can pull a trout or two out of the creeks where we will be then its even better.

Daniel, not sure about the military discounts but it may be possible? What's the best price you've found so far? Too, I have one that is basically brand new, never hunted with it, I might be interested in letting it go, are you interested?
