Broadhead Recommendations

There are many good heads on the market today. Let's hear your recommendations and why. I prefer RazorTricks for several reasons. 1 they fly like darts from my setup and 2 they are a COC head that are razor sharp out of the package and 3 give superior penetration. What say you?

I like slick tricks. They are really sharp out of the package and are a well put together head. I currently shoot the 125 grain Viper Trick. Though I've shot the Standards and the Griz Tricks. I've shot many broadheads over the years. I tend to prefer replaceable blade heads. For many years early on I shot single blade zwickey heads, but later on I tend to lean towards multiple blade heads using replaceable blades. In my opinon you can't sharpen heads as sharp as the good replaceable blades are right out of the package and a down side to single blade heads, they don't provide as good of blood trails.

I like a three blade broadhead, 1 1/8 inch cutting diameter, that is very sharp. I want a solid feral and blades that don't come off in the animal. I am not particular about the brand.

I will be shooting Slick Trick Vipertricks this year. I have shot the ST Standards in the past, tough, sharp, fly great, everything you could ask for. I like the Razortricks as well, just a little concerned that the tip could curl.

I've had blades curl after slicing thru rib bones and digging them out of the dirt or a tree. I have several packages of replacement blades just for the occasion I can't say enough about the penetration I've experienced with them.

I believe that most of the broad heads on the market today will do the job but if they don't fly right out of your bow you won't get the penetration or accuracy you need. I shot many different broad heads before choosing the montec.

I have taken elk with Muzzy 3b and 4b, slick trik magnums, steel force, and magnus stingers.
No complaints with any of them.
If I must say one is preferred - I say the Magnus stingers; low profile, very sharp, they all weigh the same as stated in the package, the fly great and coc tips, and they are not overpriced.

stirring the pot for you, I have never spun up any kind of a mech head. does that make me old school?

I killed one with a G5T3 a couple years ago to satisfy my curiosity. Boy did I get lucky! Only 1 blade opened! That experiment is over!

I would not use a mechanical bh for elk, but that's just me.

Does anyone have any feedback on the NAP hellrazor? Are they sharp? I liked the design of the G5 montec when they came out but was disappointed with them not being as sharp as I would like.

Not a mech fan either, I'll take quality fixed heads or COC (cut on contact) heads any day!

The Hellrazor is a very hard steel, this means it can show signs of being brittle, I've broken several of them during practice sessions where they entered wood posts. The Montec & Snuffer SS both hold up well & sharpen to a keen edge!

All COC heads such as the 3 mentioned here all need to be hand sharpened before hunting with. None come sharp enough out of the package!

What do folks think about the QAD Exodus vs a true COC head. Also would the design change your shaft length since the blades come back behind the end of the shaft?

Been a big fan of the shuttle t's. Muzzy's 3 blade aren't bad, but my arrows fly better with the shuttles. Just my two cents.

After all I have read on here, I have ordered some Viper tricks in a 125 gr. head, I have never shot these, but I have been impressed with all everyone has said about them.

I have been shooting FMJ with 125 gr Viper Tricks. Shooting 4-5" groups with Vipers and field tips out to 60 yards. Can't wait till September.

I'll be trying out some Slick Trick Magnums this year. I've always used Muzzy on the whitetail around here but they just didn't group as well at the longer distances for me.
