Aluminum arrows?

Any benefits to using them in this day and age over carbon (besides the lower cost)?

If I was strong enough to handle the equipment, and wanted to bow hunt a Cape Buffalo, elephant, etc., I would build my arrows up from aluminum. You can make them heavier to pack more kinetic energy. Some of those boys that hunt things that are about as likely to kill you as you are to kill them, epoxy one arrow shaft inside another.

There are many Trad guys that use aluminum arrows to get the flight they want from their recurves

Not for me now although I cut my teeth on Easton Aluminum arrows, I used to also wear a lot of cotton based clothes but prefer performance gear now! (grin) When I shoot trad I prefer carbon for hunting as well. I like the toughness of carbons, seem to work for us very well.

For me...YES! I shoot fingers (instinctive), and I find them to be much less erratic, easier to tame. Much more "forgiving", so to speak.

I tried to shoot carbons for about 5 years, and ended up going back to the aluminums.

I still shoot aluminums.

I did just buy my 1st dozen carbons (FMJ) but I will build them as a winter task. 2514's in my quiver as I type.

Main benefit is I have so many of them! I can try different sizes to get best arrow flight (Mainly with broadheads). I can also cut them with a tubing cutter (I have a chamfering kit to allow insert to slide in) vs with carbon you need them cut with a high speed arrow saw. (I don't have one)
