Bow tuning tips

I posted this thread yesterday on the Doc's Office forum by mistake. I aimed for it to be here on the Equipment threads because there seems to be many questions about bow tuning tips. So here ya go!

I know many of us live in remote areas that are a long drive to the nearest archery shop. And once you get to a shop, a lot of the time you find the so called bow tech doesn't really know all that much in the first place and would just as soon sell you something new rather than work on your old piece of equipment.

That alone should be a good enough reason to educate ourselves and become better bow mechanics. There is a fellow in Kentucky by the name of Kenny Parsons. He has a little archery shop and seems to be pretty sharp. He stresses learning how to maintain and tune your own bow and arrows on his website,www.bowtuningtips.com. And he also sells the tools needed to get the job done. He also shows how to tie all the special knots that many pro shops kinda like to keep secret so you'll keep coming back. LOL!

Besides having his own site, he also does tons of posting on Youtube. Just go to youtube.com and type in bowtuningtips and you'll find enough stuff to keep you reading all evening.

I was looking for some bow tuning stuff awhile back and actually came across some of his youtube videos for it. Good stuff for sure. I think it is important to know how to do a few of the simple tasks, might save a hunting trip.

God, isn't THAT the truth! LOL . . . I used to take my bow to Big Foot Fly Shop when I lived out in Vernal. I can't remember the guys name, but being a fellow lefty (Yep, I'm a southpaw), he always did great work on my bow. Been hit or miss with getting my bow tuned ever since getting back to the PNW. I got brave a couple of years ago and started making my own adjustments on draw weight and let-off, but I would like to dig deeper into it. Great info guys, thanks!

It sure is! Oh, how I miss good 'ol Vernal . . . you know you are in a good place when you roll up to the local coffee stand and the young girl working there says, "I just drew an archery tag for the BookCliffs!" LOL
