how can I tell if the 2200 is a 12 model or the new 13 model.

I have a 2012 model and heard they made some changes for 2013. You might call them and ask them what changes they made. It might help you decide which one you want if you are trying to choose.

I believe they did away with the side pouches on the batwings for the 2013 model. there also are 3 buckles across the back instead of two in the older versions.

Good pack but the one I had seem to be too tall for a short person like me. Also the pouches on the belt are useless. I hope they fix them on the new model.

What is your waist size? The 2012 has a large waist belt that will slide over your hips if you have a slender build. That is a big difference between the new model and the 2012. The original also had a smaller waist. The in between model had the largest waist and Badlands was shortening them for free at the factory but no longer offer that service. At a glance you can tell them apart from the rear. The new model has 3 straps across the back and the older ones have 2. Great packs of they fit you. I'm in Wyoming now but was informed that a 2013 2200 is at home in Pa. waiting for me. Can't wait to move into it.

im a 34 around the waist. seems to fit me ok. I really like it much better than my frame pack for what I want, a pack that can go with me except poss for the 5 day bivy yet still pack out some meat when I come out.

34 huh... kinda mid sized. You should be fine. I just tried the new one on today. Wow they really did shorten the waist belt alot. The belt pockets fit my gps and rangefinder. Plus two more bigger ones further back. Very nice. I have a friend selling a 2200. He's as skinny as a rail and wants the new one. If anyone is interested let me know.

its snug but not tight, a little tighter would help, hopin its not a big deal. sounds like a lot of improvements on the new one.

I am a 32 waist and my 2012 is usualy all the way tight when I have it on. I might have to check the new one out. I tried a 4500 and it fell off of me.

in my experience just snug will be down over your hips once you lash on an elk quarter. For general hunting though I think you'd be ok. I'm shocked at how much shorter the new one is even from the original model.
