Editing movies

My camera can take motion pictures, but I don't use it that much, because I get a bunch of 30-90 second movies instead of 1 movie that combines all of them.

Is there a simple, free way to put them together?

Assume Windows 7, but I could use the Mac if needed.

If you have a Mac try using iMovie. The application comes standard on all Macs. If know how to drag and drop files you can make movies. Import the video files you have into iPhoto and then open a new project in iMovie. Then you can drag and drop the movie clips into iMovie. You can easily trim the clips and add music too.

i simply use moviemaker which comes free on most windows PC's. You can just drag all the short clips into one video file and edit it as wanted. here's my example from silent trail cam video

Imovie is easy to use. It edits the length of clips allows you to add music or other audio. It's very user friendly.
