Map and Compass

With all of the different types of electronic GPS devices available today, many of us forget the old school stuff. The GPS is an amazing tool. I love mine. I have a mapping program for the entire state of Colorado and it even has a plat feature that tells me who the property owner is on private land. What will they think of next?

But bare in mind that any electronic device is prone to failure. Be it dead batteries, dropping it on a rock, or what ever. This is why you should always pack a topo map and compass. Not only should you pack it, but you should have a good knowledge of how to use it.

The link I have posted above is one of the very best I have ever found on the use of a compass. Don't leave home without one!!!!!!!

You are 100% correct WW. Thanks for the link! Now when are you going to give me a little calling help? :) I have a contest deadline of July 17th and I have no idea what a good routine is. 60 seconds total (20 cow, 20 bull, & 20 freestyle). I'm a little lost.
