The food is packed

Postby dapper » 07 28, 2013 •  [Post 1]

18.5 pounds for 14 days. 2300 calories per day. Now I just have to wait 47 days.
Three packets of oatmeal for breakfast, three or four protien bars and trail mix during the day and mountain house for supper. We laid it out on a big table, added up the calories per day without the trail mix, then added in the trail mix, using a postal scale, to arrive at 2300 calories. The mountain house and trail mix were each put in there own individual zip loc bag. Each days food was then packaged and sealed in a food saver. The bars were left in their wrappers, last year I took them out and packaged several in a zip loc bag, but they kind of melted together. Taking the mountain house out of their wrapper shaved nearly a pound off the weight. We don't eat out of the mountain house package since we carry a lightweight bowl(1.5oz) for the oatmeal.

Its gonna be a long 47 days
