does that JetBoil frypan suck?

Postby pointysticks » 02 15, 2013 •  [Post 1]

i would love to fry up some meat carcass side. the Jetboil is awesome for making water hot..frying up a nice thin slice of backstrap.., not so good.

balancing a pan on top of the jetboil burner, full of hot oil seems like a dangerous game of chicken.

anyone? anyone have that pan?

I have the pan. Have not tried it. Waiting for a back strap. Maybe I should test it out. Mine came with a stabalizer kit.

Can't speak for the Jetboil, but I picked up a Trangia Mini for the days I want a small pot and pan in the pack. I love the full size version, have yet to fire this up, same burner, just smaller pans and screen.

I have one and use the stabilizer with it. Catch some trout and fry up. Works awesome. It is one of the Things I will take the weight penalty and carry. Not sure I would use without the stabilizer.

I didn't buy the pan. Just packed in a small fry pan for trout last summer. It certainly didn't seem too stable sitting on the unit. I ended up holding the pan over it for that reason and the fact that the pan/oil was getting too hot. Fortunately, the fish didn't take long to cook on each side so while I did get some discomfort from grease splatter, it didn't take long and I was enjoying some cutthroat. :D
