The tale of two wools. Service life.

Here is an assessment of two different wool base layers. I like zip front, long sleeve short turtleneck tops in wool. I hunt in them, work in them (tree guy) and hike in them.

The photo shows both worn at the same time. I will double up on base layers sometimes if its really cold. Can you guess which is 8 years old and which is only 2 years old?

The green shirt is 8 years old and has seen a LOT of action. It is not the softest wool base layer I own but who cares. It is wearing great and I am super happy with the value it has delivered.

The black base layer is a big let down. It is already failing at the cuffs after seeing only two years of service. Not going to buy their wool products again. At least not their base layer stuff.

I do not know why, but I too have noticed that some wool garments don't hold up well. I usually wear mine under something so they will hold up better.
