Garage score

Postby wawhitey » 03 15, 2021 •  [Post 1]

So, cleaning out my garage, there was an upright freezer in there when i bought the place in 2014. Always assumed it was garbage cause its obviously really old. Finally started dragging it out today to haul to the dump and thought wtf, may as well plug it in, see what happens. Ill be damned it runs like a champ. Cant find a serial number or anything but a half assed internet search says its definitely made before 1977. So minimum 44 years old and still running great. Crazy. Pretty sick vintage appliance. Im moving it into my basement. Vaccuumed a buncha dead spiders and stuff off of it, hit the side that will be exposed with a rattle can, good to go. It even has a lock on it, though i dont have a key, and have no idea why anybody would want to lock a freezer in the first place.

Going to have no choice but to kill an elk (or draw a moose tag) this year so i can fill this bad boy up.

How fricking sweet is that! Congrats on a great vintage find/save. Oh, and 1977 is one of my favorite years, graduated from Columbia Falls HS that same year.

Great price. Keep it a few more years and you will have an antique. It may be worth a fortune.

Yep, they don't make em like they used to! I bought a Monkey Ward chest freezer in 1978. 33 years old and still running like a champ!

My Gramma had a fridge from 1948. About 2000 she wrote the company (Sears? maybe?) and told them about it. They could have cared less.

Don't fall inside and have the door lock behind you Whitey!

And here I thought this was a thread to score our garages.....

If that is a thread that's coming, can we wait like... 2 months? I have some major garage updates coming. I'd feel cheated if we scored them before I was done.

A friend told me the freezer is most likely posessed and is going to burn my house down. I dont know if i should hope i can get all my taxidermy and guns out in time, and collect a big insurance payout, or play it safe and hire an appliance exorcist.
