I’ve got some bladder cleaning tabs (think dissolving thingamajigs like Alka Seltzer) that seem to work pretty well on both the new car taste and at the end of each season. Got em from Cabela’s I think?

They say necessity is the mother of invention. Look what I found.

Some good looking kits here complete with the tabs, and tools to get in there and scrub the hose.

I do not add anything, but rather change the water as frequently as possible. Adding another chemical can reduce the offensive odor, but the cause is still there.

I have had some success with baking soda and water. Put a bunch of baking soda in, mix it with water and let it sit for a day. Rinse it out and dry thoroughly.

No problems with bad taste.

Don't let the bladder sit for a long time with water in it. If you are not going to use it for a while, rinse it out and let it dry.

You guys are doing it all wrong. Dont let it get skanky to start with. I was going to buy a cleaning, dring kit, but came across the freezer method and use only that now

If I use a bladder for a day or a weekend I drain the bladder, then back blow air through the tube , and put it in the freezer,
When I fill the bladder I open the end and run water through the hose to clean and put fresh water in the tube. I have 4 bladders,.. all were in the freezer, and none have that hose or skank smell or taste.

I use vineger to clean them ,.. dont use dish soap,.. :o

+1 on the freezer method. My wife and I store all of our bladders in the freezer when not in use. If the water that gets put in the bladders taste good, it taste good coming out.
