Right arrow or more weight?

I'm shooting 72lbs at 29" draw in Hoyt Carbon Matrix G3. Somwhere around 330ibo.

I have a dozen Easton FMJ 320 in the 6mm shaft.
10.6 gpi @ 28" + insert, nock, vanes and 100gr tip. 442ish grains.
I could go to a 125 gr head and hit 467gr or a 145 or 150 gr head and push 488-495gr.

My head of choice will be Steel Force, Magnus or DRT..

I also have option of a heavier arrow, more gpi or addition of a brass or steel insert in my current arrow for increased weight and better foc.

Thoughts?

I think your arrows are great. If they fly well, don't change a thing. If they don't patter as well as you like, I would try the 125 gr. broadheads.

Sounds like a fine setup. I would bump your weight up with the 125 heads and you will be in the optimum range for max penetration.

How do they fly now? If they are shooting well I would leave them alone.

With a 28 inch arrow and 72# bow I wouldn't get real crazy adding a bunch of weight to the front of them. Increased weight on the front of the arrow will decrease the dynamic spine of the arrow. I'd bet they won't fly well with a heavy insert and a heavy broadhead.

I have found that any time you are close to the edge on the charts, it is usually best to go with the next heavier spine. In your particular case, going to the 300 would increase your arrow weight by 14 gr.

I doubt you will see much if any difference in arrow flite. But the advantage in going with the heavier arrow would be to make your bow a little quieter.

I have only shot these arrows twice in the yard since I received them. Flight is good, groups are good.

I hope to get some more nice weather and go up to my field archery club and test them some more soon.

My big concern was enough kinetic energy for a pass through on elk.
