Oil Wipes?

Postby EdvinJones » 01 27, 2017 •  [Post 1]

Have anyone here used oil wipes? I don't mean wipes you might have happened to grease with oil, no, I mean actual oil wipes, as in, manufactured like that. If you have, were they any good compared the traditional way of cleaning guns? Did they leave fibers after cleaning? I don't think that's possible if they are designed for cleaning, but who knows.
The reason I'm asking is that I'm considering getting Rem Oils Wipes. They are some of the better things that could help with cleaning a gun, or supposed to be, not sure if they actually are. But I can see how they might prove more convenient to use compared to the traditional methods.

I use the Birchwood-Casey silicone reel and gun cloth for wiping down the exterior of my firearms. I like remoil but it does evaporate over time.

Probably OK for that final wipe before putting the gun away or while out in the field during adverse weather for the exterior of the gun. I personally use Mobil 1 Zero to -thirty degrees oil.

It wets better, doesn't dry out, and most importantly, you never have to worry about the inner workings of your firearm's action getting stiff in cold weather and not firing

An $8 quart will last a long long time compared to the $2-$3, 6 ounce container of Remoil.

I carry a small cloth in an old film cannister saturated with it in my pack.
All the firearms in my safe have it and are stored muzzle down to prevent oil migration into the wooden stock
