Insulation Layer

Looking for opinions on some insulation layer items. Anyone have experience with the Kifaru lost parka? Or the Kuiu super down? Trying to decide between the two.

Havent really checked them out yet, to be honest. Ill give them a look here before i make a decision.

Two things I noticed right away. They are sold out! and I like the idea of having a hood on that type of insulation layer. Curious to why they wouldnt include that? Just my quick thoughts.

I use a First Lite Uncompaghre puffy. It's very warm and does a great job shedding water. They are sized about one size larger than what you'd normally wear if you want a snug fit.

I have the Kifaru lost parka on my list. Their construction and high grade insulation has edged it out over the Kuiu for me.

Second the First Lite Uncompaghre puffy. Very, very nice! Perfectly oversize as stated, and no extra bells or whistle crap to get in the way. Also works great as a pillow (used it as such this season)when packed in the pocket stuff.

How cold do you need to stay warm in. For hunting ,play, work?

I see your from Bismark Ask you ice fishing buddies that dont use a fish house,.. and dont wear Walls or Carharts

Archery Season - I really love the Kuiu Kenai with the hood. It's quiet enough for whitetail hunting too if that matters to you.

I am keeping an eye out for a used Kifaru LPP in my size - I'd love to try one for when I need something warmer / burlier.

I agree the kudu kenai is a great jacket. Not super warm but a great insulation layer.
