in two years of elk hunting, I've only had to wear rain gear for one afternoon, but I think it's something I should put a little money in to, just in case. I am looking to keep my budget around 120 for both pants and a jacket. I am wanting to take a closet look at the kings camo climatex suit. any other suggestions, or anything used out there?

intel on my area last year was that it rarely rains. So obviously, it rained for 4 days! I have Cabelas Goretex stuff and if you catch it on sale, you can get into it for just a little more than your budget. $120 for both is going to be a little tough. I would try and stick with Goretex if you can find it for that price.

WYO, I think that Kings Camo set would be a good choice. I personally don't like anything lined for rain gear (spent too many years using Army goretex top/bottom and baked like a Thanksgiving turkey in that stuff), just a lightweight top/bottom with pit zips (pit zips help with heat dissipation a bit). Quality rain gear does not breath.... at all... and is designed for one ultimate purpose, to keep you dry when the skies open up. A couple of features I like in rain gear is zippers on the pants from the knees down.. sure helps you get em on/off; an attached (or detachable) hood; and useable pockets in the pants (once you put the rain gear bottoms on, you'll probably have a need to transfer a few pieces of gear to them from your hunting pants pockets, i.e., calls, snuff (lol), etc., so you don't have to dig in to your hunting pants pockets with the rain bottoms on). Reminder to get your rain gear large enough to it fits over your normal hunting pants and your top base/mid layers. Happy shopping

I have a set of frogg togs in camoflauge, which would fit into your price range and I believe that for the price that I paid and all aspects' considered, that they were a fair investment for me. They have done very well at keeping me dry, although as expected they do get pretty warm.
