Pnuma Outdoors gear...

Postby bald9eagle » 07 09, 2016 •  [Post 1]

What do you guys know about it? It is supposed to be out this month. They promise no mark ups similar to Kuiu. I'm geared up but new things kinda bring the boy out in me.

Ive been needing some new gear and decided to wait for their opening. The business will either start with some technological upgrades or a better price point, hopefully both. They say "twice the product for half the price," something along those lines. I am anxious to see what they offer and how much it is. To me, it seems these hunting clothes should not be as expensive as they are, but i do not know the cost to manufacture them at all, i just have a hard time believing pants cost 200 to make and that they need to be sold for 250 to have a corporate profit. In my mind, they are $40 to manufacture and companies are trying to profit exceptionally off the trend with hunters who like great gear. Admittedly, i am one, but i have a difficult time paying that money on clothing and i am hoping Pnuma has a great product at an awesome price point. I feel that particlar market is huge. I know a lot more hunters wearing bass pro or cabellas camo than kuiu, scentlok, or sitka. I know lots of hunters want the tech and quality, but their price points dont seem real....i still wear 10 yr old camo from sportsmans wearhouse, cant pull trigger on these expensive pants, shirts and rain gear yet. I am going to upgrade some this year though and i hope their prices and quality are better

Thanks for the heads up, looks like bleeding-edge gear.

I am looking forward to it too. I do own some Sitka and I will tell you this....it is better than most of the stuff out there (haven't tried it all). Randy Newberg did a podcast with 2 guys from Sitka and it was pretty enlightening. The cost of manufacturing is only part of it. They sink a ton of money into research and development of materials. One thing I remember that was kinda interesting was they spent a lot of money making a pair of pants. It tested great on the prototypes. Then they got it in camo and it didn't meet their expectations. they scrapped the whole garment and started over.
