Bone Saws

OK, let's talk bone saws. For many years I used the old school, dual blade saw in a leather sheath, that one could pick up at any sporting good store. They worked fine to cut the top notch off of elk and deer. A while back I got the brainy idea to pick up a folding, plastic handle, ultra light weight saw that failed miserably (broke). Picked up a Wyoming II saw from Elknut a few years ago and it is strong, sharp, and reliable. The Wyoming saws are however, a bit on the heavy side if they possess any fault at all. That said, I've been researching a bit and see a couple of new types/brands that have garnered my interest. The Sawvivor Saw (Slim9300 recommended this saw to me a handful of years ago) is not being manufactured any more (they were similar to the WY saw but much lighter). Not sure if I'll get one of these below to try out (and attempt to adequately replace the WY saw for field use), but, they do look intriguing, especially the Dandy Saw.

Never found a need to reach farther than the Wyoming saw.

Since I carry all my daily gear on a pack mule,the best thing I have found is a cross cut saw from a miter box. I do know how to remove legs and head with just a knife, and carry a Browning folding saw with me just in case.I have used that more for cutting trees fallen on the trail than cutting bone though.

Anyone old enough to remember splitting an elk spine with two hand hatchets can really appreciate good saw when needed though.
