Sleeping Bags

I know this is a pretty general question but what do you guys like for sleeping bags? For winter camping I have been using an older Cabelas synthetic bag that is rated to -30 F. I don't think it is as warm as it used to be so I was thinking of replacing it with a Wiggy's 2 bag system. Does anyone have experience with Wiggy's?

Also, I have a bunch of other bags but only one is insulated with down. It's a Kelty that is rated to +35 F. I use it in warm conditions backpacking since it packs small and is light. I have always been leery of relying on a down bag for cold weather out of concerns for durability and fear of getting it wet. Do any of you use a down back at your base camp?

Are you backpacking or base camp hunting? What season and what state?

A little bit of everything. I am a bit of a gear nut so I try to have what I need for most situations. I mostly hunt in northeastern states but I am going to hunt Colorado beginning this fall. I will probably be hunting archery so I'm not too concerned about the cold. I will be base camping on public land this fall but I'll bring bivy gear to stay flexible. I do some winter trekking and snow camping in the Northeast too.

I did some research today (sick day). It seems everything is a trade off. When there is good snow I pull pulk so a couple extra pounds are no big deal. I think I am going to get a down bag rated around 0 F to supplement my 35 F down bag for when I am bivying. I'll probably get the Wiggy's bag for base camping and winter trekking / trapping trips.

Around here, the best was to have the woods to yourself is to go in the dead of winter so right now is prime time for camping around here. Within the next few weeks I will camping out and stalking (for learning purposes) our resident elk or trapping beaver - maybe both. I'll probably pulling a pulk if we finally get some decent snow. If so, I'll probably bring a synthetic bag.

Mind you, I sleep hot. Here in CO for archery season I sleep on a BA Q-Core pad with a 20 degree Enlightened Equipment Revelation Quilt. Last season was the first time I used it and I love it. No more waking up in the middle of the night wound up in a mummy, it warms up instantly and I've yet to get cold with it. It's also lighter and packs down much smaller than my mummy. As far as I'm concerned, my dog can have the mummy, I'll stick with this setup from here on out.
