Free Elk Hunting Goodies

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 05 01, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Do you have anything, perhaps collecting dust, that another Elknut could use? I'm not talking high end stuff (packs, bows, RF's, optics, etc.). I have a 3 year old set of Midland two way radios that operate on pre charged batteries, or, standard AA's that work just fine. I just upgraded to a newer model so if you'd like my Midland set of radios, charger, and belt clips, they're yours for just the shipping cost. PM me if you're interested. Just passing it on to my fellow Elknuts. Anybody else? RJ

I have a domed mouth reed, never used, that I would send to someone. I think it is a Primos, not sure. I tried this type before and can't make them work.

I also have some other palate plate types that I may have tried once, but don't like, that I would send to someone as well.

I inquired about the radios. LMK

I will go through my boxes and see what we have. We've had some very generous people give my son and I some stuff but I'm not sure it's all applicable to the hunting I will be doing. I KNOW I have some small, children's clothing I would pass along. My son is growing like a darn weed!

Gang, first off let me apologize for the lame hijack here. I'm looking to enter the elk calling contest next week but I don't have a bugle tube so if anyone has an old one that they would be willing to share with a greenhorn for my first audition tape I would really appreciate it. Just let me know what you're asking for it.

You're a bad, bad man Indian Summer ;) . Paul, I'll send Joe a firm warning that this type of behavior will not be tolerated (even from him).. I suspect it's the "lack" of elevation and pure mountain air making him act out this way :D

Free to a good home, I'll even take care of shipping (to the lower 48), a TruGlo Tru-lite, a universal sight light. Just have an extra lying around that I've had for a while, but it only has one battery. Not sure where the other went, but it worked last time I had it out of the package. Never installed, in box. It's really not universal though, It doesnt fit on my BowTech sight, but it'll fit on Trophy Ridge, TruGlo, Copper John, Archers Choice, Extreme Archery, & PSE (probably more, that's just what listed on the package) sights. First I'll take and I'll drop it in the mail and get it headed your way.

This thread still active at all? Just stumbled on to this forum, and just by reading this thread, I realize how friendly the folks are on this forum. I am a greenhorn. Moved to Wyoming from South Dakota over a year ago, and will be going on my first archery elk hunt this fall. I have a buddy coming down that has elk hunted a few times, but I expect it to be a huge learning experience. Taking a full week off of work, so that should give me a few days to figure out what the hell I am doing. I am slowly trying to get some gear together, but It seems like the list of things I need is about a mile long. If anybody has anything they'd be willing to give to a newbie, post it up, and i'd be more than willing to pay some shipping and post some pictures if I close the deal this fall. I am all good as far as the bow goes. I have one single reed elk diaphragm that I am working on, just bought some predator camo earlier this spring, bought a horn hunter frame. Looking around for a couple of knives to throw in the pack for skinning in the field. Like I said, if this thread is still going, post up some things you have laying around that might come in handy, and i'd be willing to pay to have them shipped. Thanks

Sounds like you have a single reed already, but, if you are struggling for the first year I have a Primos blue reed bugle that you could use. You wont get the most realistic sounds out of it. It can work well for locating elk (location Bugles). Collecting dust after I learned how to use reeds. (from meeting some great people on this site) So jump in, you can learn a lot here.

Just looking for something I can skin an elk or deer with. straight or fold, it doesn't really matter. Being this is my first year elk hunting, I am needing to purchase some items, and it is starting to add up, cost wise. Would prefer something on the smaller side, 3-3.5 inch blade. And yes, I would pay for the shipping

Jeff, welcome to the forum. I have bad news though. It is an addiction. It's a bad one, and if you havent even been in the elk woods yet, I can promise, it's going to get worse. I have some good news though also. I do still have the sight light. I'm glad you can get some use out of it, and I'll get her coming your way!!! Good luck this fall, and keep us all posted on your plans and successes!

Thought I'd get this one rolling again. I have a pretty cool lockblade knife somebody gave me years ago (Xmas? Bday?) that I'll never use and really, don't have a whipper snapper to give it to (grin). Not a super duper quality knife by any standard (has china stamped on the blade, lol). It comes in a nice wood box, the eagle artwork on the inside lid, and eagle artwork engraved in the blade and handle. If you have a young, aspiring outdoorsman that you think may be interested in this piece, let me know and it's yours. RJ

rudyc was kind enough to pass this book to me in exchange for a hoochie mamma call. Not sure how the call worked for him this year, but I enjoyed the book.
Looking to pass it on to the next hunter. Might put his name and then mine to show where the book has traveled.
PM me if you are interested.

EDIT: Book has been spoken for :!:

I searched through my stuff and I really didn't come up with elk hunting stuff per se, but would like to share a dial trigger lock (new in box), a flask (water bottle with a strap), and a small Cabelas utility tool (think very small leatherman). All goes to the first guy who speaks up!

Thought this thread needed to be brought back up. I am looking for a universal sight light or any spare game bags you have laying around. Anyone else need anything?

I think I have one of the sight lights that I've never used. I'll check tonight. Thanks for bringing this back up!

No problem. This is a great thread guys. I have seen a lot of free stuff given away to hunters that need it.

I have a sight light that came off a trophy ridge react. I would be more then happy to send it off as I will likely never use it.
