Could someone please offer me a plausible explanation as to why you would intentionally put a 1 inch wide piece of hard steel, dead center, less than 1 inch behind the vital core. I would have never thought I would ruin and arrow and broadhead by hitting metal in a $250 target that was made and sold to shoot broadheads into for practice.

Seriously, if someone were to ask me, " What is the dumbest thing you can come up with in the design of an archery target?" #1 on that list would be placing a piece of hard steel within the target.

If you are going to do something so stupid as to intentionally place hard steel into an archery target. You should put a disclaimer on the box and on the instructions, "The interior of this target contains hard metal objects." How dumb would that look? The target should come with a map. The map should contain the locations of the hard steel that you have hidden within your target. You should warn people that shooting into your target, that was designed to be shot into, can result in ruined equipment if it is quartering to you at all. People don't expect to ruin expensive equipment when they shoot arrows into your target. People actually but the target to shoot their arrows into. They especially don't expect such results when the arrow enters your target through the vital core. I'm not aware of any arrow broadhead combination that will withstand shooting into a piece of hard steel. Maybe the people at Field Logic are aware of a suitable combination, if you are please share.

If anyone has one of these targets there is a large, wide, piece of very hard steel running up the body of the target directly behind the vital core. If you don't have one of these targets my suggestion would be that you don't buy one. For some reason, Field Logic has found it necessary to hide hard metal objects within the target.

Anyone please feel free to copy and paste this to other hunting/archery websites and message boards that you visit. Maybe they will see it and let us in on their wisdom!

I contacted Field Logic this morning and they intentionally put a large piece of metal strapping in the interior of the target for support. Supposedly the Full Rut is heavy too heavy to not have it in there for support. I then asked why they would not list anywhere that there is a large piece of metal in the target. He said that it has been brought up before and it has been discussed with the marketing department. The marketing department has chosen to not disclose that the Glen Del Full Rut target comes standard with hard metal built into the target.

im glad I went with the cheaper smaller one.. the way I figured.. if you can smoke a smaller one, a bigger one will be just as easy
thanks for the lesson learned Jmez.. sorry it was at the cost of your arrows, I would take the target and the busted shaft back to where I got he target and get some money or something

Wow, sounds like a valid complaint for sure! Can't believe there's no warning label over the area with the steel plate in it? Not good!
