Downloadable GPS Maps

Good morning everyone. I just recently purchased a Garmin GPSMAP 64st yesterday. Has anyone had any experiences with this type of GPS ? Also inquiring as to the best maps to use/download to this GPS. Will be hunting Idaho this season and Colorado next season. Thanks for the information, and as always, it's greatly appreciated.

I have a 62s. For downloading maps onto your GPS, I like gpsfiledepot.com. I made a video tutorial a while back on how to add them to the GPS. The instructions start about 9 minutes in. I would probably download the "Idaho Topo" one in your case. It's a free download. The video then goes into adding image overlays and routes from your computer if you're interested.

Awesome information guys. I will definitely look into all of them. Haven't had the chance to look into it yet. This thing called work is keeping me too busy and away from the fun stuff

I second http://www.gpsfiledepot.com. In fact I use the Idaho topo on my Garmin now. I have maps from Hawaii to Ohio, and for the most part they are as good if not better than the Garmin maps you buy. They will gave you a list of maps for each state and each one is a bit different. Usually they have one that is the editors choice, check those out. They will also tell you which downloads are free, usually the editors choice is free. I now have a MAC and sometimes they are limited to PC's.

Thank yoU for the response Jerry. I appreciate it. I downloaded the Idaho Topo Map from this website on to my Garmin 64st. Now I am having problems opening it up or any of the pre-loaded maps on it. It shows its on my Gps but for some reason I can't open it. I made sure this map was enabled and turned the other ones disabled and still can't open it. I formatted the 32GB SD card to FAT32 as this is the only way Garmin GPS' can read the card. I'm sure it's some simple thing I am missing here. I'm not the most tech savvy person so it's a learning curve for me. Hopefully I'll figure it out soon because the season is less than 2 months away
