Just Picked Up Another Pair Of Boots!

Well, now I have added Lowa Tibets HI to the arsenal! (grin) I have newer Crispi HTG GTX boots, New Kenetrek Mountain Extremes & the Lowa Tibets, I also have a pair of 8" Under Armor boots! I'll testing them all to see what type of hunting boot they become! It's tough to go wrong with the first 3 but let's see which one shines the best? (grin) looking to add a pair of 8" Asolo mountaineering boots or similar! This will give me a well rounded out selection & comparison!

Curious to hear your feedback 'elknut1' as i like the kenetrek extremes and the lowas. I currently got the alaskan hunters by meindl and there nice boots so far. Was gonna get the kenetreks but wife wasnt so crazy about me spending $500 on a pr of boots. So it must be nice to have all them boots. Im jealous!!!

I bought a pair of the Lowa Tibets last year for my archery elk hunt and I have zero reasons to buy another brand. These are by far the most comfortable pair of boots I have ever owned. I probably put 80-90 miles on my boots during the 10 day hunt and I could not have done it without a high quality boot on my feet. I'm a Lowa lifer!! You'll love them!!

Thanks guys, I do look forward to the Lowa boots, they looked great but time will tell! (grin) I hope I see the same results!

curious to know, what are you guy's process in deciding which boot go with? Obviously comfort comes to my mind, but can you have good support, comfort with a waterproof boot?

Spoiler alert: this post is another in my list of several RE custom orthotic footbeds. Repeating myself because some may not have been here for earlier versions.

1. They are expensive but worth it. They will outlast many pairs of boots.
2. They reduce fatigue, reduce blistering/foot pain, and help reduce knee, hip and back pain.
3. They instantly customize (partially) the fit of any new boot you try on, and reduce break-in time.
4. Easily change them from any boot or shoes to any others, takes 30 seconds.

I have had no luck w off-the-rack "gellin" footbeds. Mine were built by a specialist from plaster casts of my feet. They are over 20 years old and still do the job. I try on boots w my insoles in them, mine are thicker than any factory footbeds and I often need a larger size to accomodate them. Happy feet=better hunts.

Paul, I didn't go w orthotics because of foot problems, thankfully. I started by having custom cork footbeds made for my ski boots, while I was instructing. Standard equipment. The orthotic builder was a guy I knew from skiing, he convinced me to have him build flexible orthotics for my telemark boots and hunting/hiking boots. He assured me I'd never go back after using them, and he was right. Gerhard Rill is the footbed expert, used to practice in Grand Junction CO, probably still does.
