i bought mine for $12. the sheath is goofy, but functional.

i got the Mora Companion and i got the Mora Mil Spec for my brother..and they are the exact same knife..hahha. i finally used it to gut something besides trout. a deer! it was pretty awesome. i'll be honest, and admit i wouldnt know a "Scandi grind" if it stabbed me in the arse. but a Mora comes with this grind.

it skinned the deer faster than any knife i own. the tip is pointy, so it will nick things like the stomach..and my finger pretty easily. i did the entire deer without sharpening it. here is where the knife kicked butt...being $12, i am not really worried about it. i opened up the cavity as close to the chest as i could..but i didnt stop there..i pushed the knife into the ribs in the middle and zipped the chest cavity opened..it was really neat..like i found a softer cartilagely area to the ribs and just pushed it thru. the knife didnt dull.

i just pulled my knife out, and i found rusty spots..oh-o..i cleaned them up, and googled Scandi grind..and put a new edge back on..it will shave my arm.

i want a better, no more expensive and good looking knife, but it is hard to beat the Mora. nothing touches it for the money..nothing. i tried to cut open the pelvis to access the colon..but i wasnt physically strong enough..not on a deer. but the attempt didnt destroy the edge.

what a workhorse. CHEAP! and it is super light.

Nice. I have the Bushcraft and it's not bad. The edge is stupid sharp from the factory, it's lightweight and I'm happier to have that on my pack belt than the cheap china made knife I had last year.

i had some time, and i decided to organize my gear.

i pulled out the Mora. it was slightly tarnished/rusty...rot roh. i cleaned it and pulled out my waterstone. i grinded ..hahah..ground (grinded?!!) the edge a tiny bit on each side. i followed the bevel of the scandi grind. super easy, but really awkward feeling and looking..it is odd to lean the blade over so much. but very easy. did some minor honing..and checked it out..WHOOOOOOO! it is sharp!! i polished it on my leather strop block and now..i kid you not..it is as sharp as a straight razor. i can cut the thinnest ribbons of paper shreds with it..on regular computer paper. it is by far the sharpest knife i have ever owned. and it weighs about 13 0z..and i plan on cutting the sheath down..cut off the belt clip, so it will get lighter.

i will put it up against any havalon

i actually made an appointment with my local knife seller today. traffic sucked..and you know what? i am not sure i am ready to drop $160 on a new knife, just yet. not when this thing is so awesome.

and the sheath i think i hated? it is fantastic when it comes to cleaning..i scrubbed it spotless..inside and out.

best sub $15 piece of outdoor gear i have ever bought..hands down.

I've used both a Mora and Havalon. They both work just differently. I've done a few animals with the Mora no issues at all.

A close HS buddy has knives made in china under a series of names. He picks and choses the steel, the shape and the handle then what is embossed on the knife is the expensive part.
I stopped at a custom knife supply store this summer for some wood I wanted for goose calls; expensive stuff ,
Think for a moment: Weve all seen the "buy 100 folding knives for $49, or $99 or $299" what ever the price. Top end steel in a knife doesn't cost that much more, top end handles don't cost that more, Quality of manufacturing and quality control doesn't cost that much more
The Swedes just had to reduce their knife prices to stay in the market
