I think I've finally narrowed my selection to MR. Looking at the longbow or the Metcalf. Can you guys chime in on what you know? From first hand or through the grapevine works. Mostly a day pack but would like to do a night or two. I think both are suited for that.

MR is about as good of a pack as you can get. Only two draw backs I can think of. For one, they are a little heavy. But they carry a load so well, that more than off sets that problem.

I had the Crew Cab and found the load lifters were more load stabilizers than lifters. But now I see MR is making a frame extension that can be added when you need it or taken off so the pack isn't so tall that it bangs you in the back of the head and hangs up in the thick brush like other tall packs do. I would have never gotten rid of mine if I knew they were coming out with the extension. I often kick myself for letting that pack go!

That is a major plus for me. Being so tall I really like the fact of having load lifters.

I also owned a crew cab along with my hunting partner and he has had several others of theirs as well. We used them for several different things from backcountry trips, day hunts, and yes packing out boned meat with them. The frame is rock solid like WW said a little on the heavy side. For us the lack of load lifters led us to go a different direction with new packs. With out the load lifters the weight would feel like it was pulling you down and backward which would make packing at times very uncomfortable. They make solid packs as I have been fortunate to meet with them at the factory and see a lot of their processes . I will continue to see what they come out with moving forward.

Late chiming in here, but the Metcalf is the better choice if you are set on MR. Load lift always wins, the Longbow doesn't have it.
