Just wondering??????

Postby >>>---WW----> » 01 06, 2014 •  [Post 1]

My wife was watching one of those home shopping shows when I walked in. They were selling that Nutra System diet stuff that you see Dan Marino and Marie Osmond advertise of TV all the time.

What sort of caught my eye was that none of it had to be refrigerated. So that got me to thinking! I wonder if it could possibly take the place of Mountain House. I know you can pick up a five day supply at WalMart for around $48. And that is for all three meals every day for 5 days.

Any of you guys ever tried it or even thought about it??? Not trying to loose weight here (although 15-20 # wouldn't hurt) LOL! Just wondering if it would be good for backpacking food.

Howdy WW. I had a similar thought, but couldn't find where I could just buy a weeks worth of food from them. I found, at my local grocery store, some unrefrigerated meals... sort of MREs. They are made by Hormel and Spam and are 10 oz meals. The Hormels are called "Compleats" and the Spams are called "Meal for 1". They also make breakfasts. They costs me about $2.18 each. They have several meal choices and I eat one very day at work for lunch. They are pretty good considering they only take 1 minute in the microwave. Now I don't carry a microwave on my backpack, but I bet I could heat them up another way, say in a pot over a flame. WW, please tell me more about what you found at Wally World.

The only problem is they're low cal meals to lose weight. Not something you want on an elk hunt.

Maybe if you ate 6-7 meals a day it would be ok.
